Excellence in Health & Safety - Bill Simpson

Reason for Winning
Bill has operated on the Samlesbury BAE site for 23 years. He is as thorough as they come and has taken on a number of initiatives for the site and championed them on both the site training and H&S front. Amongst these are all the records for all the site staff regarding their training and on the H&S front he has again grabbed the bull by the horns to ensure compliance across the site. During a recent audit it was noted (by Mark Elton SHEQ Director) of the impact of Bill Simpson on the site specifically around H&S matters and conformity and to this end for his substantial input he was nominated and won this award.

Innovation Award - Kevin Shopland

Responsible for all the day to day business at the SEGRO site in terms of security

Reason for Award
Kevin instigated the use of bikes on SEGRO Metropolitan Park site, reducing foot patrols, reducing environmental footprint, aiding faster response to issues on the client's estate via security and doubling patrols conducted on site which has reduced crime significantely. This has been taken a step further by Managing Director Ed Macfarlane for the wider business.

Responsible for the management of the W&D Operations Team with 6 direct reporting Operations Managers. Working on a national basis ensuring all contractual requirements are achieved and service levels are met for our portfolio of clients such as Yodel, XPO, WH Smith and Arla.

Reason for winning
Andy took over a contract during a time of client dissatisfaction. He worked tirelessly to turn their perception around. His strong ability, security knowledge and determination resulted in a complete turnaround of the contract. The client has since signed a new 2 year deal with Cordant to continue providing security services due to Andy's actions.

Employee Engagement Award - Jason Hood-Rayment

Roles and Responsibilities
Jason is responsible for managing all of the cleaning related to the Metro locations.  This includes maintenance depots, offices, training rooms, tram stops, the line embankments and of course the trams themselves.

Reason for Award
Jason moved onto the Midland Metro contract to cover for another member of staff who was on long term sickness. Since Jason’s arrival staff morale increased significantly as Jason embraced all staff needs and wants creating a buzz around the site.

This had a knock on effect with all staff wanting to go the extra mile. This was recognised by the client and from the back of all their efforts Cordant Services was nominated and won the “Highly Commended” award at the Light Railway Awards.

Unsung Hero - Winston Richards

PCV Shunter/Allocation Supervisor

Roles and Responsibilities in the workplace
Assisting in the shunting of buses through the fuel bay and bus wash when they are returned to the garage by the drivers. He is also Allocation Supervisor ensuring that all buses are allocated correctly ready for the morning runout and that there are no issues that may cause the client lost time/mileage.

Reason for winning
Winston has been described as the backbone of the Brixton Bus Garage even though he is 78 years old. He works unbelieveable hours completing all tasks to a very high standard. He has often helped out during busy periods even when not asked to do so, often travelling to other garages in the area that require his skills. He is an inspiration to all his team, friends and family. His award is not just for one action, it is for his complete devotion towards his role within the business.

Bravery Award - Zaheer Mohammed

Zaheer is responsible for security of the stores he works at in the Newcastle area. He is a visual deterrent to any would be shoplifters and provides good customer service in a friendly and helpful manner

Reason for Winning
Zaheer went far and beyond what is required of his role in the business. He stepped up and put himself forward and managed to save another person’s life who wanted to jump from the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle.

An outstanding act of courage that deserves more recognition than we can offer him.

Sales Cadet of the Year - Sebastian Sharpe

Reason for Winning
Sebastian has excelled in all tasks put in front of him throughout the 3 years he has spent at Cordant Services. He has provided strong guidance to the other sales cadets around him. His thirst for learning has allowed him to make quick progress through the academy earning him the Best Sales Cadet Award.

Sales Performance of the Year - Kathy Fletcher

Roles & Responsibilities
Kathy is responsible for a number of tasks throughout the business that come with her role as Director of Daily Office Cleaning. She is responsible for H&S compliance, budget monitoring, motivation and coaching of her management team and staff and also responsible for cross selling services through various opportunities across the business.

Reason for Winning
Kathy has put in an outstanding performance throughout the entirity of 2015. Bringing on new business to Cordant Services along with expanding several existing contracts. Kathy's sheer detirmination has brought her and the business success time and time again. She is living proof that every member of Cordant Services is a sales person.

Lifetime Achievement - Tony Amor

Roles and Responsibilities in the workplace
Maintaining, managing and supporting all health and safety activities throughout the business including the communication with all external audit bodies, ensuring certifications and membership of trade and professional bodies are maintained and providing help, support and guidance to all areas of the business and relevant health, safety, environment and quality requirements.

Reason for winning
Tony has worked in the business for over 23 years and a year ago transferred into the role of training and compliance for the SHEQ team across the business. He has demonstrated unconditional support travelling many thousands of miles to meet external auditors, complete internal audits, manage the human focus process and Public liability claims across the whole business. He adapts well to each and every new challenge and carries out operational roles without question, he is a constant in terms of approach and attitude and nothing is ever too much trouble. He challenges behaviours with a professional approach, a credit to his very long service and continued dedication to the business.

Exceptional Person Award - Margaret Duncan

Reception duties including booking in/out of visitors and answering and forwarding all telephone calls to Raytheon UK Glenrothes.  She has also completed an SIA course which has assisted Cordant/Raytheon as she can now cover for Security Officers in the event of a staff shortage.

Reason for the Award
Margaret has been constantly complimented on her work ethic throughout her time at Cordant. She always keeps the reception running smoothly which is her main task. She knows everyone on site and even 90% of visitors to the site but it is her extra work that has been so impressive earning her the Exceptional People Award in 2015.

She has gone above and beyond what is required of her. She has helped to arrange the Employee’s Childrens Christmas Parties and Pensioners Dinners over the past 3 years. In addition to this she has volunteered to come in over the weekends, unpaid, to provide support for these events. She has even covered for an ill officer for a few hours until a replacement had been organised.
