2016 has started on the right foot with the first quarter witnessing the highest level of office take-up across the nine largest cities in the UK since 2008. Those cities being Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle upon-Tyne, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The increase amounts to 2.3 million square feet of property, 13% above the five year quarterly average. There have been a significant number of large deals throughout the first quarter reflected in the figures of Bilfinger GVA’s regional review of office occupier markets.
The construction market is responding to this demand with continued success expected to follow throughout 2016.
