I have worked in FM for 16 years now

A huge national business with a traditional family business feel and close working relationships with all management from all businesses within the Group


Tell us a little bit about your career background

Moved from Accountancy into M&E 16 years ago and started growing M&E businesses before selling my business to Cordant 2 years ago.


What is your proudest career moment?

Selling to Cordant 2 years ago


What is the biggest challenge facing your brand and industry (ie. cleaning, security etc)?

The FM industry has been a difficult and increasingly competitive industry over the past 10 years, even more so since the economic downturn of 2008. This was a difficult period for many FM companies with many not surviving due mainly to the collapse of many clients in the sector. However this was also a period of opportunity for those companies who were well structured and financed to grow their business, of which we were fortunate enough to be one such company.


What does the future hold for your brand and industry? (ie. cleaning, security)

Growth - controlled and steady, but significant


How do you demonstrate candor across client relationships?

Always be flexible and honest, but above all always be on hand 24/7 to assist clients with any and all issues they may have.


What initiatives does your brand drive to encourage collaboration?

Inclusion & Teamwork - we have regular team huddles and brainstorming sessions to ensure we tackle problems and opportunities together, taking into account the views and ideas from every level of the business and every member of the team, from all departments, including, operations, sales, finance, technical HR, H&S, etc.


How do you seek out and develop new opportunities within your business division?

Always speak to as many clients as possible, planting as many seeds as possible, which will hopefully grow into a valuable client one day.


How do you promote 'relentlessness' and promote success across your teams?

There are no short cuts in business, we must be more driven and put in more effort and more time than any of our competitors to be successful and keep ahead.


How does your brand support and initiate disruptive innovation?

Open door policy at all times from all senior management, to encourage any member of staff to voice and share their ideas, no matter how little or how big. All the little improvements soon add up to massive changes. We must constantly challenge the norm as there is always a better, more efficient and more effective way of doing things.


Who would play you in a film about your life?

Can't imagine anybody would be that desperate for a role


What did you want to be when you grew up?

Taller - still hasn't happened yet!

People who refuse to give up, no matter what the challenges
