The English Channel Challenge

Some people climb mountains, others run marathons, but for Cordant Security’s officer Kris Twyman, working at Eurotunnel, his personal challenge was to take on swimming the English channel.

Inspired by his grandfather, a cross channel swimming coach who was soon to retire, Kris decided in his honour and before he retired, he would start the gruelling training regime required to achieve such a difficult challenge.

In between his busy working schedule, Kris trained tirelessly, building up the stamina and working on his technique, to take on the ultimate swimming challenge, and on the 8th August 2019 Kris set off from Samphire Hoe in Dover at 05:32 aiming for the French coast via the busiest shipping lane in the world!

During his epic swim, Kris encountered choppy seas, scores of jellyfish and even a passing pod of dolphins, but after 14 hours and 38 minutes, Kris successfully landed in Wissant Bay on the French coast.

Four weeks on Kris is still recovering from his incredible feat, however after achieving his goal, he has the satisfaction and pride of honouring his grandfather and realising a lifetimes dream.

Cordant Security would like to congratulate Kris for his achievement and have donated £100 to a charity of his choice in appreciation of his amazing feat.

Well done Kris, you are a credit to yourself and a great ambassador for Cordant Security. It shows with the right training, determination & commitment you can achieve your lifetime’s achievements.
